Home care for couples as a cost-effective care solution
We understand how difficult it can be to separate couples from one another when care is needed, that is why we provide cost-effective, compassionate care and support for couples to maintain independent living in the happiness of home.
The nature of couple care at home allows you to have more bespoke care services at a reduced rate in comparison to a care home. Rather than paying for two rooms in a residential home, Trinity Homecare will create a personalised care plan to accommodate all needs in the comfort of home.

Frequently Asked Questions
Couple care is home care designed for two people living together, most often an older couple. Rather than two separate arrangements, one care plan covers both, delivered by the same carefully matched carer or care team. It allows couples to remain together in their own home, with support shaped around each person’s needs.
In many cases, yes, particularly where one partner is largely independent or both have moderate needs. Where both require significant hands-on support, or where care is needed overnight, a second carer may be necessary. We establish this at the free assessment and will tell you clearly if one carer would not be sufficient.
In many cases it is. Full-time care at home for a couple is charged at a single rate with a supplement for the second person, rather than at twice the price, whereas two residential places are charged separately. Combined with one-to-one support and remaining in your own home, many families find it compares favourably.
This is common. One partner may be living with dementia while the other is physically frail. A single care plan can address both sets of needs, and carers are matched on their experience of the more complex condition. We review regularly, as it is usually one partner’s needs that change first.
Yes. A live-in carer needs their own bedroom with a proper bed and storage, along with access to a bathroom and kitchen and a reliable phone or internet signal. The room need not be large. Carers are also entitled to around two hours of break each day, which we plan around your routine.
The care plan adjusts. If one partner is admitted to hospital, the carer continues supporting the person at home and helps manage the return. If needs increase permanently, we can add hours, introduce a second carer or arrange specialist support. Your care manager coordinates these changes, and with your consent family can follow them through TrinityConnect.
