Carer Learning: Key Stages
All Homecare Assistants and front-line care staff employed through our managed care service will undertake the Trinity Homecare Care Certificate if they have not previously completed this. The Care Certificate provides a passport to a career in health and social care.
Our Care Certificate training course takes place through a blended learning approach. In addition to e-learning, practical training sessions take place at our dedicated training centre and is led by one of our qualified trainers.
The training includes the following modules:

- Working in a person-centred way
- Communication
- Privacy and dignity
- Fluids and nutrition
- Awareness of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities
- Safeguarding adults
- Safeguarding children
- Basic life support
- Health and safety
- Handling information
- Infection prevention and control
- Medication*
- Moving & Handling*
- Pressure ulcer awareness*
- Oral Care*
- Continence management and catheter care*
*These are additional modules over and above the 15 standards set out by Skills for Care Care Certificate Pathway
Our Mandatory Care Assistant Training Pathway is a legislative obligation that we have to ensure that you remain compliant and confident in your training over time. Our Mandatory Care Assistant Training Pathway can be completed at our training centre or you can work remotely via e-learning.
The objectives of our Mandatory Care Assistant Training Pathway are:
- To deliver refresher and top-up training to ensure that staff have the skills and knowledge to deliver care to a high standard
- To benchmark staff against the Care Certificate standards, and where skills and knowledge are deficient, top up by training and development
- To ensure full compliance with the Health & Social Care Act
Typical modules include:
- Basic life support
- Medication management
- Moving and handling of people and loads
- Infection prevention and control
- Health and safety
- Safeguarding of adults
- Food Safety Level 1
- Handling information and record keeping
Our distance learning is offered in partnership with Nescot College and the objectives of the course are:
- To provide specialist care training tailored to our client needs
- To provide a pathway to Level 2 diplomas in Adult Social Care
The course requires completion of modules which includes but is not limited to:
- Dementia training
- Palliative and end-of-life care
- Safeguarding of adults
- Medication management
- Mental health awareness
At Trinity Homecare, we have formed close partnerships with nurses and community support services to develop our carers’ knowledge and skills for specialist care, including PEG feeding and epilepsy support, and other nurse led services.
Dementia care – special conditions
The Homecare Association and the Alzheimer’s Society worked in partnership to create a ‘Dementia Training for Homecare’ course, which contains five modules. The course is designed to support home care assistants as they develop their knowledge and understanding of all aspects of dementia care. We’re proud to offer this opportunity to our care staff and this dementia training course is available to all of our care teams. We offer this course in person at our training centre, and online.
Levels 2 & 3 Diplomas in Adult Social Care
The opportunity to pursue a Diploma in Adult Social Care is available to Care Assistants who have successfully completed their Advanced Care Training. The work completed for the Advanced Care Training course will count towards the Level 2 & 3 Diploma and not only is this an opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills, but Trinity recognises your development with increased pay and incentives.
The objectives of the Trinity Management Development Programme are to:
