Mrs B moved to a care home after her dementia diagnosis. She still held capacity over her own care, whilst her daughters applied for a power of attorney. Regardless of this, the care home made the decision to move her to the dementia wing. With the unnecessary upheaval of another move, Mrs B did not settle in her new surroundings.
Mrs B’s daughters, based in Germany, saw their mother decline from afar and decided there must be a better option. Mrs B had no companionship from the staff in the new wing and she was isolated and lonely, surrounded by residents with more advanced symptoms than her own. Desperate for another solution for their mum, the daughters contacted Trinity to look at the possibility of mum moving back home and we were more than happy to support.
With an appropriate carer chosen, the transition from care home to home was organised. Within a week, Mrs B returned to the comfort of her own home, with the support of a compassionate carer and surrounded by her much-loved belongings. Her new journey has begun, and we could not be happier for Mrs B and her family.
Our Client Services Advisor, who handled Mrs B’s case, quotes,
“It’s not unusual but feels good to give Mrs B a chance at a better quality of life, and a better dynamic around her ongoing care.”
