It’s important to remember that our live-in carers don’t only provide the essential care and support their clients need, but also go above and beyond, to make their days special. Many of our carers, like Anne Marie, will spend Christmas with their clients. Here we spoke to Anne Marie about how she helps bring the magic of the festive period to her client.
Trinity Homecare’s live-in carer Anne Marie has been helping her client get ready for the festive season. Her client prefers to live a more private life. He does not require personal care, but Anne Marie provides companionship and conversation, to ensure loneliness and isolation do not creep in.
Anne Marie has been with her client for two years, having cared for the couple before sadly the client’s wife passed away. She now helps him maintain his independence, helping with household chores, food shopping and walking his beloved dog.
Around Christmas time Anne Marie likes to ensure her client enjoys the occasion and helps him decorate the tree. She likes to create a festive atmosphere within the home and prepares special meals on the run up to the big day. It’s important for both our clients and carers to enjoy the seasons and this also helps maintain the great relationship they have with each other.
Anne Marie comments,
“I help my client chose gifts for his grandchildren and help with the wrapping. It’s a lovely time of the year to spend time with each other and enjoy the festivities. He also always makes sure there is a little something under the tree for me. I feel like part of the family, which is nice as my children live across the world.”
