Her personal tutor, who has worked closely with Mary-Anne throughout her apprenticeship, has formally nominated her for Learner of the Year — and it’s easy to see why.
A Natural Caregiver
Mary-Anne’s commitment to providing person-centred care has been evident in every aspect of her role. Her tutor shared a particularly telling moment during an observation: rather than rushing through her tasks or being distracted by the presence of an observer, Mary-Anne stayed fully focused on the person she was supporting, making sure they received the time and attention they deserved.
This act, while simple on the surface, spoke volumes about her values. As her tutor put it: “If there were ever someone I would trust to look after my own loved ones, it would be Mary-Anne.”

Her dedication has even extended to out-of-hours calls, all in the pursuit of delivering the best possible care.
What makes Mary-Anne’s achievements even more inspiring is that she is a mature carer who never had the opportunity to study further earlier in life. Yet, she has embraced her apprenticeship with determination and pride. She has been with her client for quite a few years, and together they have built a truly wonderful relationship — one that is marked by trust, mutual respect, and genuine affection.
