Watch the film to hear why Nancy swapped a corporate career for a life in care and how her three weekly visits with Munroe have become a source of companionship, good food, and genuine joy.
From Global Sales Director to Trinity Carer
After losing her father to Covid in 2020, Nancy decided to change direction and do work that makes a real difference. Just before turning 50, she joined Trinity Homecare, a move she now calls the best decision of her career. “It’s the most rewarding job I’ve had, and I’ll keep doing it for as long as I can.”
What Nancy’s Visits Look Like
Nancy met Munroe about three years ago, when he was seeking mainly companionship. Unlike most of her shorter calls, she spends three hours with him, three times a week, time that allows for conversation, practical help, and an unhurried lunch together (he doesn’t like eating alone). Over time, they’ve built a strong rapport and a real bond.
Good Food, Shared Routines
Food is part of the rhythm they share: smashed avocado on toast with a poached egg is a favourite, and a rediscovered Morphy Richards sandwich maker now turns out regular cheese-and-tomato toasties (Munroe’s treat, not hers). They cook with whatever’s thriving in his garden. This winter it’s likely leek and potato soup and with a bumper crop of tomatoes expected, tomato soup is on the menu too.
Growing Together
Their time isn’t only about meals and housekeeping. Munroe has taught Nancy a lot about gardening, especially in the greenhouse where there’s always something new growing. That shared learning is part of what makes the relationship special.
Why It Matters
Nancy treats every client the way she would have treated her own parents, with warmth, respect, and time. For Munroe, that means the confidence of practical support and the comfort of knowing someone will sit, talk, cook and laugh with him, the small, human things that make home feel like home.
