Choosing care for yourself or someone you love can feel like a big decision, particularly when you want to stay at home and keep as much of your usual life as possible.
With live-in care, a carefully matched carer lives in your home and provides support throughout the day, helping with everything from personal care and meals to appointments, hobbies and getting out and about. You keep your own home, routines and familiar surroundings, while having someone there to support you.
Trinity’s fully managed live-in care in London starts from £1,694 per week, with the exact cost confirmed after a free assessment based on your circumstances and the support you need.
How much does live-in care cost in London?
There isn’t one fixed price for live-in care because everyone’s circumstances are different.
Your weekly cost can depend on the level of support you need, whether specialist experience is required, the amount of overnight support involved and whether you need more than one carer. If you’re arranging care for a couple, it may also be possible for one carer to support you both.
The cost of care in London and the South East can also be higher than in other parts of the UK.
Our live-in care cost guide explains what’s included in our service, including your assessment, care planning, carer, care management and ongoing reviews. We also arrange cover if your regular carer is unwell or takes holiday.
Once we’ve assessed your needs, we’ll give you a personalised quotation so you can see what your care is likely to cost and what’s included.
Could you get help with the cost?
Depending on your circumstances, your local council or the NHS may contribute towards care costs.
The NHS homecare guide explains how care needs and financial assessments work. You may also be entitled to Attendance Allowance, which isn’t means-tested.

Why live-in care can suit life in London
Staying at home means you can continue to enjoy the things that make your area feel familiar.
You might still want to pop to your usual café, see friends and neighbours, attend your place of worship or spend time with family. You may simply want to wake up in your own bedroom, look after your pet and carry on with the routines you’ve had for years.
A live-in carer can provide support around those things rather than asking you to change your life around care.
Live-in care does require a private bedroom for your carer. If you don’t have suitable space, other options may be available, such as visiting care with waking-night support. We’ll talk through what’s realistic during your assessment.
And if your needs can’t be safely managed at home, we’ll be honest about that too and help you understand what other options may be available.
How to choose a live-in care agency in London
When you’re comparing live-in care providers, the weekly price is only part of the picture.
It’s worth asking who employs and manages the carer, how they’re matched to you, what happens if they’re ill or take a holiday, and who you can contact if something changes.
There are also important differences between a fully managed care agency, an introductory service and employing a carer yourself.
| Responsibility | Fully managed agency | Introductory agency or platform | Employing a carer directly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Managing the carer | Agency recruits, trains and supervises | You direct the care | You, as employer |
| CQC registration for personal care | Required | Exempt if there is no ongoing direction or control of personal care | Exempt where individual-care-worker conditions apply |
| Holiday and sickness cover | Agency arranges | You arrange; replacement introductions may be available on request | You arrange |
The CQC explains the difference between care agencies and introductory agencies.
The important thing is to understand what you’re actually getting for your money. A lower headline price doesn’t necessarily mean a lower overall cost once you take into account managing care, arranging replacement carers and dealing with problems yourself.
How Trinity supports you and your family
With Trinity, you’re not left to manage the practical side of live-in care on your own.
Your carer is carefully matched according to their experience, your care needs and the things that matter to you, including personality, interests and lifestyle. You’ll receive a carer profile before deciding whether you’d like to proceed.
You’ll also have a dedicated care manager who helps put your care plan in place, reviews it when your circumstances change and remains a point of contact for you and your family. Existing clients also have access to seven-day on-call support.
Where more complex needs are involved, our team can draw on clinical guidance to help make sure care is planned safely and appropriately.
Our Worcester Park service is currently rated Outstanding overall by the Care Quality Commission, following its inspection published in October 2025. You can read the CQC report here.
With your consent, TrinityConnect also allows family members to see care updates, so they can stay involved even when they can’t be there in person.
What does live-in care include
The support you receive depends on what you need and how you like to live.
It might include help with washing and dressing, agreed medication support, preparing meals, shopping, light housework and getting around. Your carer can also provide companionship and support you to attend appointments or spend time with friends.
The aim isn’t to create a rigid routine. Your day should still feel like your day.
You might have help getting ready and having breakfast in the morning, then head out for an appointment or meet a friend. Later, you could spend time on a hobby, have dinner together and get ready for bed.
Your care plan sets out the support you need while leaving room for your normal routines and choices.
In our case study of a gentleman enjoying life by the sea, home-cooked meals, outings and a birthday tea with neighbours helped bring enjoyment back into his days. His attorneys reported improvements in his wellbeing and confidence.
Your live-in carer needs breaks too
Live-in care doesn’t mean your carer works around the clock.
They need regular time away from their caring role, including a two-hour daily break and time to sleep at night. Your care plan will explain how these breaks are covered and whether any additional support is needed.
This is an important question to ask when you’re choosing a provider. A good live-in care arrangement needs to work for both you and the person caring for you.
Live-in care for dementia and complex needs
Live-in care can be suitable for people living with dementia, Parkinson’s, the effects of a stroke and other complex conditions.
Trinity also provides complex care at home, including support with needs such as tube feeding, catheter or stoma care.
Our carers are trained care professionals, rather than registered nurses. Where care involves health-related tasks, these need to be included in the care plan and carried out by someone who has been trained and assessed as competent.
Your carer works alongside your existing healthcare professionals rather than replacing them. During your assessment, we’ll look at what support you need and whether it can be provided safely at home.
Living well in London with live-in care
Being at home doesn’t have to mean staying indoors.
Your carer can support you to get out and about, whether that’s meeting a friend, visiting a favourite place or attending an appointment.
Depending on your circumstances, London also has several transport options that may make getting around easier:
- Freedom Pass provides free travel on eligible TfL services for qualifying London residents.
- Dial-a-Ride offers free door-to-door transport for eligible members whose disability means they can’t use public transport all or some of the time.
- Taxicard provides subsidised taxi and minicab journeys for eligible London residents with serious mobility or severe sight impairments.
There are also plenty of accessible places to enjoy. The V&A in South Kensington, for example, offers free general admission and step-free access at its Cromwell Road and Exhibition Road entrances.
The important thing is that care should support your life outside the home too.
