What is arthritis?
Arthritis is one of the most common health conditions in the UK. According to statistics, it is believed that around 10 million people in the UK are living with some form of arthritis. That’s around 1 in 6 people.
Arthritis is not a single disease. It is an ‘umbrella term’ used to describe over 100 different conditions that affect the body’s joints (where the bones meet). Arthritis exists on a spectrum and can range from discomfort and swelling that comes and goes and usually eases with painkillers to constant, severe and debilitating pain that has little effective pain relief.
No matter what the severity, living with arthritis can be debilitating, affecting a person’s ability to carry out day-to-day tasks and move around. Some people with arthritis may have other health conditions, meaning the impact on their health, confidence and ability to remain independent can be severely affected, sometimes making simple tasks a struggle. This is particularly true for osteoarthritis, the most common type of arthritis amongst the elderly.
How can arthritis care at home benefit you?
Arthritis care at home offers tailored support to help you manage pain, improve mobility and stay independent in the comfort of your own surroundings. Rather than adapting to a care facility, your care comes to you, on your own terms.
With Trinity Homecare, you’ll benefit from:
- Personalised support – Care plans shaped around your routines, preferences and health needs.
- Comfort of home – Stay in familiar surroundings with your independence intact.
- Pain and mobility management – Gentle help with movement, exercises and daily tasks to reduce discomfort.
- Flexible visits – From occasional help to regular support, we adapt as your needs change.
- Emotional reassurance – Friendly carers who provide not just assistance, but companionship and encouragement.
What does arthritis care support involve?
Living with arthritis can limit movement and make everyday tasks challenging. At Trinity Homecare, we’ve spent over 25 years helping people manage arthritis at home with personalised, flexible care.
Because no two experiences of arthritis are the same, our support is tailored to your needs and always focused on promoting independence rather than taking over. Our experienced carers provide practical, respectful assistance to help you stay comfortable, confident and in control.
We can support you with:
- Support with personal care such as bathing and dressing
- Help with housework such as cleaning and laundry, or other household tasks
- Shopping and running errands
- Getting out and about, whether it helps with transport, getting to appointments or assistance with shopping
- Encouraging gentle exercise to keep you mobile such as an accompanied walk in your neighbourhood, enjoying being in your garden or other activities you enjoy
- Meal preparation, washing up and assistance with eating
- Reminding you to take your medications and help to order and collect prescriptions
