Three finalist places for Trinity Homecare
The Three R’s Award
Trinity Homecare is a finalist for The Three R’s Award, recognising its approach to recruitment, retention and recognition across a workforce of more than 1,000 colleagues. Recruitment partnerships include work with education providers, while structured learning and career pathways help colleagues develop and remain in care. At Worcester Park, 42 colleagues have more than five years’ service, including seven with over 15 years. This continuity supports trusted relationships between clients and the people who care for them.
Workforce Development Award
Trinity’s Workforce Development Award finalist place recognises investment in learning from induction through to specialist training, qualifications and leadership development. During the past year, Trinity delivered 5,400 hours of face-to-face training. Across 215 evaluations, average self-rated knowledge increased from 4.02 to 4.79 out of five. Colleagues have applied this learning during cardiac and choking emergencies, showing how workforce development strengthens confidence and protects people receiving care.
Home Care Employer Award
The Home Care Employer Award recognises the culture and support behind Trinity’s services. The nomination reflects investment in colleagues, quality improvement and better outcomes for clients. Within six months, two Trinity services achieved Outstanding ratings from the Care Quality Commission. Trinity’s Healthy Ageing Programme also promotes prevention, independence and wellbeing, while colleagues support community initiatives including hospital projects, dementia awareness and education for older people and families.
Five colleagues recognised
Barbara Baig
Barbara Baig, Group Head of Quality and Continuous Improvement, is a finalist for Outstanding Contribution to Social Care. Over the past year, Barbara has strengthened Trinity’s Quality Governance Framework and developed practical ways for leaders to learn from risk, incidents and real care cases. Her Quality Jury sessions challenge managers to examine evidence, test decisions and apply learning within their services. She has also led the Five Foundations for Living Well and the development of an evidence-based healthy ageing resource with academic, clinical and nutrition specialists. Her work turns quality assurance into practical improvement for colleagues and the people they support.
Richard Hollands
Richard Hollands is a finalist for the Co-production Award, recognising his work connecting people and organisations across Eastbourne and East Sussex. Through community forums, educational talks and conversations with families, Richard identifies questions people struggle to answer and brings together charities, professionals and specialist organisations to respond. His work with SOLLA, the Society of Later Life Advisers, has supported talks and webinars about care and later-life decisions, helping local experience shape the information and support offered.
Rebecca Walton
Rebecca Walton, Care Manager at Trinity’s Worcester Park branch, is a finalist for the Putting People First Award. When the condition of a woman she had previously assessed deteriorated, Rebecca listened to her son’s concerns, arranged an assessment that afternoon and coordinated Trinity’s visiting and live-in teams. Both services were in place by the following day, enabling the woman to receive urgent support at home. Rebecca’s response reflects her reliability, compassion and focus on finding solutions when people need help most.
Summer Smith
Summer Smith is a finalist for the Home Care Registered Manager Award. Having started at Trinity as a care worker, she now leads Worcester Park’s visiting care service, supporting more than 150 clients and 92 colleagues. Summer focuses on what matters to each person. When a client living with multiple sclerosis explained how her bedroom affected her wellbeing, Summer supported colleagues to redesign the space around her choices. She also invests in staff development and wellbeing. The service’s Outstanding CQC rating reflects the standards sustained by the team she leads.
Katie McCafferty
Katie McCafferty is a finalist for the Home Care Coordinator Award. She manages complex rotas, protects continuity and coordinates care for new clients as the branch grows. Katie also mentors new team members and leads care worker meetings where colleagues feel heard and supported. Her planning, communication and practical problem-solving help maintain reliable, high-quality care for every client.
