[Somerset & Wiltshire – January 2026] Visiting care can do more than support daily tasks. For Mark, a man living with cerebral palsy in Somerset, the right care has transformed his independence, confidence and everyday life.
From joining the Air Training Corps to taking part in charity parachute jumps, Mark has always embraced life fully, pursuing challenges with determination. His parents have always focused on helping him enjoy life on his own terms and live as independently as possible.
However, finding carers who truly understood him was not easy.
“We tried lots of care companies over the years, but then we found Trinity,” recalls Mark’s mother. “The care is over and above. It is about building trust, understanding Mark, and making sure he feels valued in his own home.”
Sophie, Mark’s visiting carer for the past two years, has been a consistent presence.
“We got on like a house on fire from the minute we met,” she says. “We laugh, cook, go out together. It is not just care. It is friendship. Being a familiar face has helped Mark feel relaxed, confident, and open to new experiences.”
Since receiving support from Trinity Homecare, Mark has become more outgoing. He enjoys outings with Sophie, plays his cello more often, and takes part in activities he once avoided. His family says the support has eased their own worries and strengthened their relationship with Mark.
Mark describes the carers as
“like the little and big sisters I always wanted. I feel confident and independent because of the care I receive.”
“I can safely say they go above and beyond every single visit,” says Mark’s mother. “So lovely to know that they’re coming in. I don’t have to think, oh, should I go around? Should I ring him? They just alleviate all that stress.”
Trinity Homecare’s approach shows the value of visiting care that is consistent, personal, and delivered with understanding. The model helps clients across Somerset and Wiltshire live with dignity, enjoy daily life, and feel secure in their own homes.
